Membership is free and open to organizations and individuals committed to the contemporary visual arts.

In practice this includes artists, art agencies, art schools, galleries, arts-based organizations, activist groups, higher education institutions, museums, arts writers, critics, curators, educators, art collaboratives, and more.

Membership Criteria for All Artists

Visual artists who meet any two of the following criteria are invited to join:

Exhibition/History of Sales

You have had at least one public exhibition and/or public installation; your work has been purchased for one or more public or private collections; or your work has been made available through one or more commercial galleries or agents within the last five years.

 Education and Training
You hold a degree or equivalent qualification in the field, or you have been engaged by contractual agreement in an artist residency or fellowship

Artistic Practice
You have received one or more public or private commissions; you have received one or more prizes or awards for your professional practiceor, or you devote a reasonable proportion of your professional time as an artist promoting and presenting your work to the public.

Public Presence
Your artwork has been reviewed or featured in an art journal, magazine or newspaper (online or print); or you have a website or online portfolio displaying your work

Membership Criteria for Filmmakers

Filmmakers who meet any two of the following criteria are invited to join:

Film Experience

You have completed at least one finished film project with a key role as Director, Producer, Writer, Cinematographer or Editor; you have publicly presented at least one film (websites not included); you have a degree or professional training in filmmaking; or you have a personal or company website with featured works and/or trailer

 
A Social Justice Focus

Your work highlights critical social issues

All filmmakers will be asked to submit links to at least two samples of work. All applications are subject to screening and approval

For All Others

Art institutions
Includes art museums, academic departments, art centers, galleries, arts-based nonprofit organizations, art villages, art associations, collectives, activist groups, and other organizations working at the intersection of the visual arts and social justice.

 

Others

Arts Managers, curators, art writers, art bloggers, critics, educators, and all other eligible applicants who wish to join need not meet the above criteria, but will be required to provide details of recent experience on their membership application.
